Winter Break Food Donations Appreciated for On-Campus Students
When classes end and most students head home for the winter break, some stay behind, often quietly, without fanfare and too often, without enough to eat, especially when the campus dining hall is closed and kitchen access is limited. Many in our campus community have helped with this need in the past. Approximately 25 students will be housed on campus over the winter break, and we are asking for your help once again to help our students feel seen, supported and nourished. Here’s how you can make a difference:
- Cooking for your family? Make a little extra. A pan of pasta, chili, salad, or baked ziti, even a side dish, can go a long way. No need to feed a crowd, students come and go, and there are to-go containers ready to portion it out.
- Prefer to keep it simple? Gift cards to Giant, within walking distance, allow students to shop for what they need most. Smaller cards, $10 each, are more helpful than one large denomination.
- Spread the word. Share this effort with others who care.
Donations can be delivered to 109 Stratton during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or contact Erica Stratton at 610-683-4328 or stratton@kutztown.edu to arrange a pickup. No need to sign up; we'll let students know when there is food available. We have a refrigerator and microwave for food safety.
