Early College Academy Orientation Welcomes More Than 250 Students and Families to Campus
KU welcomed more than 250 students, family members, school partners, faculty, staff and university leaders for the Early College Academy (ECA) Orientation Monday, Aug. 17. The day focused on building community, connecting students to campus resources, addressing logistical needs and introducing expectations for college success. A parallel Parent Academy, through the collaboration of Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Success, Disability Services, Public Safety, Information Technology, Rohrbach Library and other campus partners provided resources to support students through their college journey. This year, ECA welcomed 94 students (56 Education, 38 Exploratory Studies), continuing its growth from 37 students (2024-2025) and 68 students (2025-2026). Special thanks for a successful day go to ECA faculty Marlene Fares, Stephen Walker, James Jackson, Marissa Wallace, Karen Wanamaker, SungEun Min, Andy Miness, Julie King and Jake Sewall, along with Tracy Driehaus, assistant dean for Clinical Education and Partnerships. The ECA continues to strengthen regional partnerships, increase KU's visibility among students and families and create pathways for future Golden Bears.

The Colleges are hosting a Return to Campus event 10:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, on the lawn between Boehm, Schaeffer and Rohrbach Library. Meet with faculty and staff, have questions answered and enjoy free ice cream and snacks.
