College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Scholars' Reception

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) honored our amazing students at our annual Dean's Scholars' Reception Tuesday, March 31. This year, 52 "standout students" were nominated by 33 faculty members. In addition to our standout student honorees, we also celebrated KU Bears grant recipients for their dedication to research and scholarly inquiry. This year, 19 CLAS students were awarded KU BEARS grants. Lastly, we honored our College's and Kutztown University's 2026 Syed R. Ali-Zaidi award nominee, Skyler Jordan, at this reception. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all of our remarkable scholars and educators. Your dedication, curiosity and commitment to excellence make you shining examples within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the entire Kutztown University community.

Kutztown SBDC Hosts Lebanon County Roundtable

The Kutztown University Small Business Development Center (KUSBDC), led by Mark Rentschler and Rachael Wolfe, hosted a Lender Roundtable in partnership with the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce and Small Business Administration Eastern District Office Tuesday, March 31. This collaborative event brought together regional lending institutions and economic development resource partners to strengthen lender relationships, improve small business borrower readiness and expand access to capital in Lebanon County and surrounding communities. The roundtable focused on advancing financial literacy, aligning referral pathways and supporting responsible lending practices for entrepreneurs and small-business owners. Discussions highlighted SBA lending programs, rural business development resources, manufacturing initiatives and opportunities to better coordinate services that support small-business growth, startup development and access to financing. Participating partners included the U.S. Small Business Administration Eastern Pennsylvania District Office, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), SEDA-COG, ASSETS, Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce, Ben Franklin Technology Partners, Finanta and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), including the PA Business One-Stop Shop, alongside the Kutztown University SBDC, part of the Pennsylvania SBDC network. The Kutztown University SBDC continues to serve Berks, Lebanon, Chester and Lancaster counties by providing no-cost consulting, training and technical assistance to entrepreneurs and small businesses.

Weather

Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger

Cool high pressure in control today. Winds will be gusty at times attributed to a pressure gradient between high pressure over the Midwest and low pressure well to our south. High around 48, which is a good bit below average for early April, but skies will be fair and bright.
