Students and Staff Attend NAACP Freedom Fund Gala

KU staff members and students attended the Reading NAACP branch's 39th annual Freedom Fund Gala Sunday, Oct. 11. This year's theme was "We the People." Attendees were Multicultural Center office manager Angelica Mishra, associate professor of Secondary Education and director of Frederick Douglass Institute Dr. Amber Pabon, Black Student Union (BSU) and KU NAACP President Taylor Richardson, BSU Secretary Leaira Patterson, BSU Treasurer Jelani Leslie, BSU member Olufela Momorie, Achievement Initiative for Male Success (AIMS) President Taj Davis, and SISTERs President Kyi Newkirk. Attendees heard from keynote speakers about the importance of speaking up and continuing to fight for civil rights, and students networked with many community leaders. The KU NAACP student chapter is currently the most active student chapter in the PASSHE system and works closely with KU alum and Reading NAACP President Wynton Butler to maintain relationships with the Reading branch.

Biology Department Wins Duck Race

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences picnic included some lighthearted fun, with the fourth annual Rubber Duck Race in the Alumni Fountain. Congratulations to the biology department, whose duck claimed this year’s championship title. Congratulations to all faculty and staff in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Even if you weren’t victorious in this year’s duck race, you are all winners every day. See more photos on Kutztown University Liberal Arts and Sciences Facebook page.

Celebrate Financial Aid Day

Colleges and universities across the country will celebrate Financial Aid Day Wednesday, Oct. 21, recognizing the dedicated professionals who help students and families navigate the financial aid process and achieve their educational goals. At Kutztown University, our Financial Aid Services (FAS) team is small but mighty. Our nine staff members work tirelessly behind the scenes to support students, answer questions, solve problems and help make higher education accessible and affordable. As we celebrate Financial Aid Day, please join me in recognizing and thanking our team for their commitment and care. You can send a note of appreciation directly to a Financial Aid Services team member or stop by our office at 209 Stratton and add a Post-it note to our FAS Appreciation Window. Thank you for helping us celebrate the individuals whose work makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our students every day.
