Secondary Education Celebrates Graduates at COE Senior Sunset

As part of the College of Education’s Senior Sunset tradition, the Department of Secondary Education honored its graduating seniors who student taught in the Spring 2026 semester. Faculty welcomed students with a gauntlet entrance, creating an energizing and affirming start to the evening. After time to connect over food and conversation, faculty led a lighthearted activity and then recognized each graduate individually. Supervisors shared personal reflections and words of pride, highlighting the impact these future educators have already made and their readiness to lead in classrooms. Graduates received small gifts to mark the transition into the profession, reinforcing the strong bonds between faculty and students. The Senior Sunset reflects the COE’s commitment to community, belonging and celebration by ensuring graduates leave KU feeling supported, valued and ready to make a difference.
