Department of Geography Wins Duck Race

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Community Picnic included some lighthearted fun, with the return of the much-anticipated Rubber Duck Race in the Alumni Fountain. Congratulations to the Department of Geography, whose duck claimed this year’s championship title. See photos on our Facebook page. Thank you to all faculty and staff in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for bringing collaboration and connection to all our endeavors (except the cutthroat competition that characterizes our annual duck race).

Spotlight on Early College Academy: Teacher Panel Inspires Future Educators

Last week, students in the education track of the Early College Academy (ECA) participated in a dynamic teacher panel hosted in Dr. Karen Wanamaker and Dr. Marissa Wallace's FYSM 100 course. This engaging session connected high school students with experienced educators, offering real-world insights into the teaching profession and sparking meaningful dialogue around classroom practice and leadership. The ECA program, a collaborative initiative between Kutztown University and local school districts, provides high school students with early exposure to college-level coursework and career pathways in education. Events like this panel not only deepen student engagement, but also serve as powerful tools for recruitment and retention, helping students envision themselves in the field and understand the critical role they can play in shaping the future. By linking academic exploration with workforce development, the ECA continues to build a pipeline of passionate, well-prepared future educators. This panel was a reminder that the journey to becoming a teacher begins with inspiration and that Kutztown is proud to be part of that first spark.
