Honor Society Inducts New Members

The annual Phi Kappa Phi Induction Ceremony was held Tuesday, Feb. 24 to welcome 32 new members. Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest and most selective collegiate honor society that inducts persons from every academic discipline. Distinguished junior and senior level students join a century-old community of scholars and professionals that include individuals who have distinguished themselves in positions of leadership and whose careers have been characterized by achievement.

Multicultural Center group at Bloomsburg conference

Multicultural Center Representation at Bloomsburg's Sankofa Conference

Multicultural Center staff and students attended the 31st annual Sankofa Conference Saturday, Feb. 21, at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg featuring keynote speaker, Dr. Albert Jones, athletic director and former Commonwealth University Chief Diversity Officer. Sankofa is an Akan word that means, "We must go back and reclaim our past so we can move forward." Students and staff had the opportunity to network with their Bloomsburg peers and learn new ideas. They were honored to support Bloomsburg at this important conference and hope to return next year.

Ujima Divine Nine Celebration

All are welcome to join the Multicultural Center for the final Ujima event 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, Georgian Room. It will be an evening honoring the history, culture and lasting impact of the National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations, recognizing their longstanding commitment to scholarship, service, leadership and community uplift. The event is designed as an educational and celebratory space where KU students can learn from members of different Divine Nine organizations. The night will include meaningful dialogue, activities, performances, prizes and food. This event is educational in nature and not affiliated with recruitment and intake activities.

Exceptional Service Awards Announcement

The Provost’s Office announced three new awards to recognize exceptional service: Faculty Exceptional Service Award, Staff Exceptional Service Award and Exceptional Service Award for Diversity. These awards were created to recognize KU faculty and staff that go above and beyond expectations in service of the institution. The new service awards provide the opportunity to validate and laud the work of our colleagues at KU and join other awards in pedagogy, research and general employee activity to bring recognition to the excellence that most members of our community show in their work. Descriptions of the awards can be found on the KU website. Nominations can be submitted using the appropriate form. Deadline for nominations is Tuesday, March 31.
