This is a comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games. In this high-octane dramatic comedy, laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

NASA scientist Dr. Caitlin Ahrens - Solar System Cryogeology

Lavas on Earth are generally hot, Hawaiian lavas are typically 2,000-2,300ºF.  However, lavas elsewhere in our solar system can be extremely cold. For example, cryovolcanoes on Pluto erupt ice lavas at temperatures below negative 100°F.
Dr. Caitlin Ahrens is a planetary scientist in the University of Maryland Astronomy Department and a research scientist at NASA. She will give a talk titled "Mysterious, Marvelous Cryogeology," noon to 1 p.m. Monday, April 20, 260 Boehm Science Building.
Dr. Ahrens has done a lot of work on H2O, CO, and CO2 on outer solar system bodies, mud volcanism on Pluto and currently focuses on Earth’s moon as part of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) Diviner science team.
The talk is open to anyone interested in our amazing universe and who is free for that hour.

Faculty Awareness Requested: PA Student Teacher Support Program

At 4 p.m. Thursday, April 16, many education students across the commonwealth will be applying for the PA Student Teacher Support Program. This competitive, first‑come, first‑served statewide stipend helps alleviate the financial burden of student teaching. Eligible students may receive $10,000 to support them during their full‑time clinical experience and to encourage continued service in Pennsylvania schools. However, experience has shown that the portal may open earlier, but not consistently. As a result, education students are being encouraged to monitor the system throughout the day and refresh their computers so they can apply as soon as it becomes available. We kindly ask anyone who is teaching education students to please extend flexibility and understanding on April 16 if students need brief access to their computers during class. This small measure of support can make a meaningful difference for students navigating the financial realities of student teaching, one of the most intensive phases of their preparation. We appreciate the understanding and flexibility of faculty across campus as education students navigate this time‑sensitive opportunity.
