Summer Break Grocery Gift Card Donations for Students

When classes end and most students head home for summer break, some remain on campus without a permanent place to call home. These students are often overlooked, and too often face food insecurity, especially when campus dining options are limited or closed during the summer months. This year, approximately 14 students will be living on campus over the summer. With your help, we can ensure they feel seen, supported and nourished during this time. Here’s how you can make a meaningful difference:
- Donate grocery gift cards. Gift cards to Giant, which is within walking distance of campus, give students the flexibility to choose items that fit their dietary needs and can be prepared with the kitchen resources available to them. Donations in the range of $15–$25 are especially helpful.
- Donate dish soap or feminine hygiene products in various sizes. These essentials can be costly but are necessary, and many students living on campus year-round are on fixed incomes. Your donation of these items provides meaningful, everyday support.
- Spread the word. Share this effort with others who care about supporting our campus community.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps provide comfort, dignity and stability to students who need it most. Please consider supporting our students this summer. Your generosity can have an immediate and lasting impact.
Donations can be delivered between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays to 109 Stratton. To arrange a pickup, contact Erica Stratton directly at 610-683- 4328 or stratton@kutztown.edu.

KUR Summertime Format

Every summer, KUR does something unique with our summertime sound, something our students worked on the entire semester prior in preparation. This summer, we're extending our popular classical music morning block one hour from 6-9 a.m. Following that, two hours of relaxing new age sounds from 9-11 a.m., a genre never explored much prior to now on KUR. After 11 a.m., it's over five decades of light and easy sounds, everything from Frank Sinatra to Whitney Houston to The Doobie Brothers. But it's not all retro, easy sounds. In between, lunchtimes from noon to 1 p.m., an hour of the best current top-40 pop on the radio from different countries around the world. Later at night, the best sounds of traditional jazz from 7-10 p.m. followed by soft easy instrumental-focused pop overnights. Student specialty shows will occasionally preempt this schedule. Listen to KUR at your desk or in your car and Bluetooth it to your vehicle stereo or use the "TuneIn," "myTuner" or "Radio Garden" apps and searching for "Kutztown University Radio."
