Celebrating Pride Month
Last week, Christine Price, director of the Women's Center and LGBTQ+ Resource Center, and Cameron Wein, assistant director of Athletics for Compliance, had the honor to attend Governor Shapiro's Pride Reception at the Pennsylvania State Library in celebration of Pride Month. KU celebrates LGBTQ+ history and Pride every October. Save the dates for the Gender and Sexual Minorities Conference, Oct. 1-3, and PrideFest, Thursday, Oct. 16.

Clothing Drive for Hope Rescue Mission
Office Service Company of Reading is doing a clothing drive for Hope Rescue Mission of Reading, Pa. They are an organization that work with men and women who need help with rehab and/or provide a temporary place to live. They also assist them in gaining employment and regaining independence within the community. Read more about Hope Rescue Mission online. Clean clothing in good condition can be brought in bags or boxes to the Career Closet, 113 Stratton, until 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 1. Pickup by Office Service Company will take place Wednesday, July 2. Dra. Leslie C. Sotomayor II, assistant professor of art education and FDI Scholar, Heather Kuruvilla, colleague, Jocelyn Maugan, art education graduate student, and Stacy Wolfinger, art education graduate student, gave a talk at the Pennsylvania Educator Diversity Consortium Sixth Annual Virtual Summit on “Pardon Us: Community Pardon Us: Building and CR-SE in Art Education Classrooms.”

Golden Bears name Jason Barshinger Head Women's Volleyball Coach
Kutztown University has announced the hiring of Jason Barshinger as its head women's volleyball coach. Barshinger brings five seasons of collegiate men's volleyball head coaching experience to Berks County, most recently leading NCAA Division III Bryn Athyn College since 2023. He begins at KU today, Monday, June 30.

Men's Basketball 16th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament
The Kutztown University men's basketball program is hosting the 16th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament Friday, Sept. 5, Rich Maiden Golf Course in Fleetwood, Pa. 1:15 p.m. shotgun start. The cost is $125 for a single player and $500 for a foursome. If you would like to sponsor a hole, the cost is $100. Sign up online.
