KU Early College Academy Think Tank Fosters Powerful Partnerships and Practice-Based Learning
The College of Education hosted the KU Early College Academy Education Internship Think Tank Monday, Aug. 11, a dynamic gathering of school and university partners committed to strengthening the bridge between educational theory and classroom practice. Held in the Beekey Education Center, the event brought together mentor teachers, district internship coordinators and KU faculty to collaboratively explore ways to enhance the Early College Academy internship experience. A huge shoutout to Dr. Sung Eun Min, Elementary, Middle Level, Library and Technologies Education, and Dr. Marissa Wallace, Special Education, who teach in the Early College Academy, for their participation and collaboration in the event. This Think Tank was designed in direct response to partner feedback, creating a space for shared learning, innovation and problem solving. Participants engaged in discussions to align introductory clinical experiences in high school with national standards, identify key milestones in the internship curriculum and address structural and support needs. Most importantly, the event emphasized the power of intentional partnerships, highlighting how collaboration between KU and local school districts is essential to preparing future educators. By connecting coursework with real-world teaching experiences, the Think Tank reaffirmed KU's commitment to meaningful, practice-based education. The insights and relationships forged today will help shape the next generation of educators and strengthen the university's role as a responsive and engaged partner in the region.
