New German Consul General Visits KU’s Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center

German Consul General, Till Knorn, of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in New York, visited Kutztown University for a tour of the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center Monday, March 24. Knorn was accompanied by Anton Klix, Consul of the Political Department, for the tour. The tour included a visit to the farm, a tour of the galleries and archives at the Delight E. Breidegam Building. Over lunch, Consul General Knorn and Klix met with representatives of Kutztown University and the Borough of Kutztown to discuss the status of German American transatlantic educational and cultural partnerships. They also discussed future opportunities for collaboration between the consulate, the university and the borough.

Reminder: Travel Reimbursement Policy

As a reminder, travel reimbursement requests submitted more than 60 days after the travel expenses were incurred will be considered taxable compensation. This policy took effect for any travel with a start date on or after Jan. 1, 2025. According to IRS guidelines, employees must account for their business travel within a reasonable period, defined as 60 days after the expense is incurred. Therefore, employees are encouraged to submit their travel reimbursement expenses promptly upon returning from their trip. Click here for more information.

2026 Chambliss Faculty Research Award: Call for Nominations

We invite you to submit nominations for the 2026 Chambliss Faculty Research Award. The Chambliss Faculty Research Award, inaugurated in 2004 through a gift from Dr. Carlson R. Chambliss, recognizes the very highest achievement in research and scholarship. Each year up to two awards can be given. Each award includes a medal engraved with the awardee’s name, a certificate of recognition and a cash prize of $250. Please note that there is the expectation that each awardee will present a lecture on some aspect of their work in spring or fall 2026. To recommend a colleague or to self-nominate, please send a letter of nomination and a curriculum vitae for the nominee to Karen Rauch, chair, Chambliss Faculty Research Award Selection Committee, by Friday, April 11. All materials should be submitted electronically to rauch@kutztown.edu.

Safe Space Training

Safe Space Training "Creating Safer Spaces for LGBTQ+ People" will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 250 MSU. Students, staff and faculty are all welcome to attend. RSVP on Engage. The mission of the Kutztown University Safe Space Program is to provide education and resources to KU community members as a means to create a safe and nurturing environment, free of discrimination based on sexual orientation, sexual identity or gender identity.

The College of Education announces a Public Oral Dissertation Presentation by Casey Horvath, "The Use of Evidence-based Practices in General Education Classrooms: a Comparison of Teacher Perception and Implementation," 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 115 Beekey. The dissertation committee chair is Dr. Kathleen Stanfa and the committee members are Dr. Andrew Miness and Dr. Caitlin Mohl.
