Enrollment in the Summer 2025 Reboot Program Has Begun

The Summer Reboot Program provides targeted support for first-year students who do not meet federal financial aid eligibility requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Now entering its fourth year, the program has consistently demonstrated strong outcomes in promoting academic recovery and student retention. Participants enroll in one or two summer courses, receive individual success coaching and complete an academic recovery module in D2L. Students who qualify are also eligible for up to a $750 tuition waiver to help offset the cost of their reboot courses. The program has yielded impressive results, with more than 90% of participants returning for the fall semester across the first three years. In 2022, 62 students enrolled and 93.5% achieved positive outcomes. In 2023, 61 students participated with 98.4% demonstrating successful academic progress. In 2024, 65 students participated and 92.3% achieved positive outcomes. Outreach for the Summer 2025 Reboot Program began May 21. Faculty and staff are encouraged to refer students who are not meeting SAP after their first year and may benefit from this opportunity. Supporting Future Educators: Pennsylvania's Student Teaching Stipend

Pennsylvania's Student Teacher Support Program provides up to $15,000 to eligible student teachers and $2,500 to their mentor teachers. This stipend helps cover living expenses during unpaid student teaching placements, allowing students to focus fully on their classroom experience. In the 2024–25 academic year, KU graduated 296 student teachers - 137 of whom received the stipend. That's 46% of our graduating class committing to stay and teach in Pennsylvania. As Rebecca West Burns, dean of the College of Education, shares, “This stipend is a strategic investment in our students and in the future of Pennsylvania's classrooms. It allows aspiring educators to fully engage in their student teaching experience while helping to address the state's teacher shortage.” Many thanks to Dr. Tracy Driehaus, who oversees clinical education at KU, for her strategic communication and support. Her leadership helped so many KU students get access to these much-needed funds. Learn more at PHEAA's official site.
