Women's Basketball defeats Edinboro for First PSAC Championship; Selected to NCAA Tournament

There was no denying this 2024-25 edition of KU women's basketball of etching its name into the program record books. KU traveled out west for the weekend and won back-to-back games against the top two teams in the Western Division, including an historic 78-64 victory over top seed and host Edinboro Sunday afternoon to win the program's first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship. With the win, the Golden Bears were selected to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 6 seed in the Atlantic Region and will face No. 3 Seton Hill in the first round Friday, March 14, at Edinboro University.

Art and Animation Faculty Screen Newest Film

Michael Covello, associate professor of Art, and Elizabeth Schneider, assistant professor of Animation, are screening their newest animation, "Becoming an Oyster," at the following locations: New Jersey International Film Festival, located at Rutgers Film Co-Op, New Brunswick, N.J., May 30 to June 13; 2025 Festival in Santa Fe, N.M., June 13-22. Their project was also one of 16 selected from 860 applicants, a 1.8% selectivity rate. The following is press taken from SingleChannel VT curatorial: "In 'Becoming an Oyster' (Elizabeth Schneider and Michael Covello, 2025), two children whose father has departed (gone/died) cope with the confusion of grief through despair, secret relief and hatching a plan. It is beautifully animated with enough detail to anchor us in a place, while seeing that place through the logic and perception of a child who also functions as the narrator. A bathtub becomes a portal, becomes the passing of a life and the attempt to recapture that life. It lays out how resistance can be an inability, or a deep effort - succumbing to addiction, the refusal to not-know, a literal/figurative holding of breath, self-preservation and selflessness in that same breath, a mounting sense of physical/emotional pressure." View the screening trailer online.
