State Vision Conference

Teacher candidates in the special education visual impairment program traveled to the State Penn-Del AER Conference in Harrisburg April 30 to May 2 with Dr. Nicole Johnson to learn and grow as future educators. Students volunteered and many presented their research at the conference.

A Gathering of Hands - A Celebration of the Labors of Sustenance

Sponsored by the KU Clay Club, this garden party and art exhibition offers a tasting menu of locally grown, raised and produced foods by Colleen Fitzgerald of Heart and Hearth Deli. All will be served on ceramics produced by KU students, with table linens colored by the plants from the KU-Rodale Institute Collaborative Dye Gardens. This event will take place 4-7 p.m., Sunday, May 4, on the grounds of the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center next to the garden and farmhouse. For more information, contact . Proceeds from sales of artwork will be donated to the Pennsylvania Farmland Preservation Association.

Finish Strong

Encourage students to stop by this first installment of "Finish Strong," 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, MSU lawn (rain date: Wednesday, May 7). They'll be able to enjoy activities and refreshments that will help them relax and recharge, along with learning helpful tips for preparing for finals and managing stress so they can finish strong.

Reminder: Summer Hours

Summer hours will begin Monday, May 19, and remain in effect through Friday, Aug. 15, one week before classes start. Summer hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a half-hour lunch. Anyone who needs to maintain the normal academic year hours may submit a request through their supervisory line. Approval for such a request will be at the vice-presidential level and shall be communicated to Human Resources.

Travel Expense Reimbursement Deadlines

As we approach the close of fiscal year 2025, Monday, June 30, please note the following deadlines surrounding travel reimbursement requests through the Travel Management System:
- Tuesday, June 10: Deadline to submit travel reimbursement requests for expenses that occurred through May 31.
- Thursday, July 10: Deadline to submit travel reimbursement requests for expenses that occurred June 1-30.
As a continuing policy, travel reimbursement requests submitted more than 60 days after the travel expenses were incurred will be considered taxable compensation. Travel reimbursement requests turned in after Thursday, July 10, will be applied to the FY 2026 budget. Faculty Student Course Assistant Requests Due May 9

Tutoring Services is now accepting requests from faculty for Student Course Assistants (SCAs) for Fall 2025. Learn more about the SCA position by clicking here. To request an SCA, please complete the Student Course Assistant Request Form by Friday, May 9. We will notify you during finals week as to the status of your request. Annual Program Assessment Reports Due Sept. 12

The end of the 2024-2025 academic year is in sight. Please remember to collect assessment artifacts and data so that your program's annual report can be completed. The annual report is due Friday, Sept. 12. Please note this deadline is a bit earlier than previous years. As always, feel free to reach out to Assessment Fellows Brad Congelio or Michele Baranczyk with any questions about program assessment or completing the annual report.
