We Heart Faculty and Staff

The KU Foundation and KU Presidential Ambassadors are celebrating everything that makes Kutztown golden. Today marks the first I Heart KU Day of the semester and we are celebrating our incredible faculty and staff. As a small thank-you for everything you do to support our students, we're treating faculty and staff to a little pick-me-up. The Perk Up Truck will be parked behind Schaeffer Auditorium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by, show your faculty/staff ID and enjoy a medium drink on us. Stay tuned for more I Heart KU days later this semester.

Multicultural Center Presents 2026 Ujima

The Ujima Conference is our annual February celebration honoring African and Black heritage across campus. In 2026, Ujima will launch a refreshed and exciting format. Instead of a traditional three-day conference, the experience will unfold through a dynamic series of events held throughout the month, highlighting the power, beauty and lasting impact of Black and African culture. Over the month, students and members of the Golden Bear community are invited to gather for meaningful programs that uplift Black America and the African diaspora through learning, reflection, dialogue and connection. This year’s theme, Roots to Riches, encourages participants to explore the value of investing in what comes next, through family, career, community and legacy. It also centers on long-term vision, preparation and the importance of passing the torch forward. Together, we will reflect on how history, ancestry and collective memory shape conversations about generational wealth and sustainability. All are welcome to attend events. Upcoming events include:
- Friday, Feb. 13, 4-6 p.m. Boxwood House "Ujima and Feminist Fun Night"
- Tuesday, Feb. 17, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 250 MSU "Ujima and KUAB Black History Month Paint by Numbers"
- Wednesday, Feb. 18, 6-11 p.m. Multicultural Center "Ujima and BSU House Party"
- Thursday, Feb. 19, 11 a.m. Multicultural Center "Ujima FDI Faculty Lecture"
- Wednesday, Feb. 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Multicultural Center "Constitution Exhibit"
- Friday, Feb. 27, 5:30-9 p.m. Georgian Room "Celebrating the Divine Nine"

Academics

Funded Professional Learning Opportunity

Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) offer a powerful teaching approach that can make students' educational experiences more meaningful, engaging and effective. Applicable at any course level and across all fields, CUREs integrate faculty scholarship and creative work into the classroom while aligning with program goals and workforce outcomes. Developing a CURE requires an investment in time and presents unique challenges, but at Kutztown University, faculty who use CUREs report that the format is highly rewarding, as it motivates and deeply engages students. To help faculty develop new CUREs, the Center for Engaged Learning (CEL), supported by the Title III Grant, is offering a special Faculty Development Course Design Institute. The program supports faculty interested in learning about and designing a CURE for one of their courses. Apply for the CURE Course Design Institute 2026 by Friday, March 27. Contact the cel@kutztown.edu for more information.
