Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance
Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance is observed Sept. 11 in honor of the individuals who lost their lives as a result of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Flags are flown at half-mast. Americans are to observe with a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m. and 10:03 a.m. KU will host a Remembrance Ceremony 10 a.m. today, Friday, Sept. 11, Alumni Plaza. Join us to honor lives lost, recognize sacrifice and reflect on our nation's resilience.

Kutztown University Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
Kutztown University celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. This national, month-long celebration recognizes the diversity of Hispanic/Latino/x/e cultures and commemorates the achievements, contributions and histories of Americans whose ancestry traces to Mexico, Spain, Central and South America and the Caribbean. Kutztown University recognizes and celebrates cultural heritage throughout the year while using Hispanic Heritage Month as an opportunity to spotlight the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latine communities. Throughout the celebration, the Multicultural Center will host a variety of opportunities for students and the campus community to connect, learn, celebrate and experience Hispanic and Latine cultures.

Leslie C. Sotomayor II and Liz Van Verth Curate the Second Annual Altar Art Exhibition
Kutztown University's Leslie C. Sotomayor II and artist-curator Liz Van Verth present the Second Annual Altar Art Exhibition, an exhibition exploring memory, identity, spirituality, ancestry and community through contemporary artistic practice. The public is invited to attend the opening reception 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13. The exhibition will remain on view through Sunday, Oct. 25, offering multiple opportunities for the campus and broader community to engage with these compelling works and conversations. Featuring works by Leigh Kane, Jacklyn Downing, Lindsay Wallace, C. Ann Carter, Anthony Smith Jr. and Rubi Rodriguez, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on personal and collective experiences of remembrance, belonging and connection. This exhibition celebrates the power of art to honor stories, foster dialogue and create spaces for reflection and community engagement.

Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff Sept. 15
Kick off Hispanic Heritage Month at our Bienvenidos event 1-5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, Multicultural Center. Enjoy music, face painting, student organization tables, free swag and an agua fresca bar (while supplies last). Sample "perros calientes" inspired by flavors from across Latin America while connecting with friends and celebrating the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. All are welcome.
