Clay Club's Visiting Artist Bryan Czibesz

Bryan Czibesz explores a range of materials and fabrication technologies, including hand building with clay, digital 3D printing and tinkering with microcontrollers. The resultant sculptural configurations are juxtapositions of body and machine that invoke binary dialogues about the biological and artificial, intriguing and mundane, graceful and awkward, refined and ridiculous and foreign and uncanny in the human experience, often with the viewer acting as active witness/participant. Czibesz will be showing how to build complexity into pieces by constructing forms using multiple 3D printed clay forms. His artist lecture is 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 108 Sharadin. There will be three opportunities to see his demonstrations; 4-6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, noon to 3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 108 Sharadin.

Romanski Awarded Outstanding Higher Educator Award

Dr. Nicole Romanski has been awarded the 2026 Pennsylvania Art Education Association (PAEA) Outstanding Art Educator in Higher Education Award. The award will be presented during the PAEA Art and Soul Conference Friday, Oct. 16, Williamsport, Pa. Romanski has been a professor in the Department of Art Education for the past 23 years and currently serves as assistant chair and coordinator of the M.Ed. in Art Education program. She enjoys teaching courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels on topics including arts integration, qualitative research, childhood art and leadership. Romanski's research and publications investigate narrative pedagogy and arts integration, including art making processes and strategies for story building. Her work explores both unpacking and restorying personal and collective narratives as a means of cultivating empathy and understanding for oneself and others.

The Office of University Relations is hosting a Social Media Training for KU employees and students who manage university social media accounts. This one-hour, in-person training is highly encouraged for all employees who have social media responsibilities. Topics will include university brand standards, AI best practices, managing comments, account responsibility and more. Registration is required. Please attend one of the three training sessions available in September.

Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff Sept. 15

Kick off Hispanic Heritage Month at our Bienvenidos event 1-5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, Multicultural Center. Enjoy music, face painting, student organization tables, free swag and an agua fresca bar (while supplies last). Sample "perros calientes" inspired by flavors from across Latin America while connecting with friends and celebrating the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. All are welcome.

Leslie C. Sotomayor II and Liz Van Verth Curate Second Annual Altar Art Exhibition

Kutztown University's Leslie C. Sotomayor II and artist-curator Liz Van Verth present the Second Annual Altar Art Exhibition, an exhibition exploring memory, identity, spirituality, ancestry and community through contemporary artistic practice. The exhibition will remain on view through Sunday, Oct. 25, offering multiple opportunities for the campus and broader community to engage with these compelling works and conversations. Featuring works by Leigh Kane, Jacklyn Downing, Lindsay Wallace, C. Ann Carter, Anthony Smith Jr. and Rubi Rodriguez, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on personal and collective experiences of remembrance, belonging and connection. This exhibition celebrates the power of art to honor stories, foster dialogue and create spaces for reflection and community engagement.

PASSHE Summit Registration

In six weeks, Kutztown University is excited to be hosting the PASSHE Summit, Oct. 28-29. Thank you to our host committee for all the hard work leading up to the summit. Even though the event is on campus, members of the Kutztown community will still need to register for the summit. Registration closes Wednesday, Oct. 14, and there are options to attend in person or virtually. Registration is free for all PASSHE students, staff and faculty. There will be great keynote and other speakers, so please register as soon as possible.

Updated Reservation Process for the Hampton Inn

When making university reservations at the Hampton Inn and Suites Kutztown for stays approved through SourcePoint, departments must contact the front desk of the Hampton Inn at 484-641-8800 and select option 4. The direct contacts for reservations are Lynn Fehn, General Manager, and Ryan Miller, Operations Supervisor. In the event our university specific contacts are not available, departments may now speak with any representative at the front desk of the Kutztown Hampton Inn to create, confirm and cancel reservations. As a reminder, all university-expensed hotel stays must be processed and fully approved through SourcePoint prior to the stay. Please forward all invoices to Accounts Payable for payment. Tutoring Services

Tutoring Services, located in 26 Rohrbach Library, provides a comprehensive support program designed to help students succeed academically while building the skills needed to become confident, lifelong learners. Tutors are available for most 100- and 200-level courses and some upper-level classes. Students can schedule tutoring appointments in Starfish using the tutor link next to their course, or by clicking the "I Need Help" button if tutoring is not listed. Academic Peer Mentors (APMs) are available to all students for supplementary guidance and support. APM appointments can be scheduled in Starfish under the APM section in "My Services". Students may also take advantage of Tutor.com, a virtual tutoring platform available 24/7.
