Kutztown SBDC Visits Hazel’s Cafe in Downtown Hamburg
The Kutztown University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) celebrated and visited Hazel's Cafe in downtown Hamburg, Pa., recognizing the business for its dedication to cultivating community in rural Berks County. This walkthrough highlighted the strength of the regional economic development ecosystem supporting entrepreneurs and small-business owners in Berks County. Hazel's Cafe served as an example of how local businesses contribute to community connection, downtown revitalization and rural economic growth. The visit brought together representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, PA Business One-Stop Shop, KU Advance, the Pennsylvania SBDC network, the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce, 69 News, the Kutztown SBDC, the U.S. Small Business Administration, Kutztown University College of Business and Our Town Foundation Hamburg. Updates to Policy Register Website
The Policy Register website has been updated, making it more accessible for all users. The following changes have been made:
1. Removal of PDF versions of policies, replaced by plain-text webpages.
2. Policies are now organized by category, instead of by division (ACA-Academic, SAF-Campus Safety, EC-Equity and Compliance, FP-Facilities and Properties, FIN-Finance, GEN-General, HR-Human Resources, STU-Student, TEC-Technology).
3. Many policies have been re-numbered with the new categories and numbers.
So that links to old policies are not completely broken, a redirect is in place from old PDF policies that brings a user to the policy register homepage. If you have any links to individual policies on websites, emails, documents or elsewhere, please update those links. Ingeniux users should use internal links from any Ingeniux webpages.

New Inclusive Education Minor Launching Fall 2026 – Relevant Across Majors
The College of Education is launching a new 18-credit Inclusive Education minor beginning fall 2026, designed to help students develop the skills to work effectively with diverse learners in today’s classrooms and communities. While particularly valuable for teacher preparation, this minor is highly relevant for students across the university who are interested in careers that involve working with people including health professions, psychology, social services, business and community-based fields, where understanding diverse needs, communication and support strategies is increasingly important. The program emphasizes practical, real-world skills, flexibility and pathways into additional certifications or graduate study, helping students strengthen their preparation and employability in a wide range of professions. Please share with advisees who may benefit from developing skills in inclusion, accessibility and working with diverse populations. Students are encouraged to speak with their advisor to explore fit within their program of study, or stop by the Department of Special Education in 111 Beekey for assistance. Please note Special Education majors are not eligible for this minor.
