Rohrbach Library Open House

Join us for Rohrbach Library's annual Open House, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15. This event is a fantastic opportunity for new students to explore library services and resources. The Open House includes a scavenger hunt that will lead students through the building and our website to answer specific questions. Save the Date: What Do Today’s Adult Learners Need From KU?

Adult learners are returning to college with different experiences, motivations and challenges, and understanding them will be key to KU’s future. Speak at Ignite Kutztown

We are seeking speakers for Ignite Kutztown. What is Ignite? It’s a speaking event that follows a specific format (more on that below). This semester's Ignite is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 135 Rickenbach, so mark your calendar to attend and see what this is all about. The basic idea behind Ignite is- what’s the nerdy passion you want to share with other people? Make a five-minute speech about it, with 20 slides that advance automatically every 15 seconds. This can be anything you’re passionate about, from a hobby, a research subject, or a general interest. Thus far, we’ve had topics ranging from The Last of Us, to Apples, to Playing with Action Figures as an Adult, and many others. Here’s a great video on Why and How to Give an Ignite Talk. Financial Aid Services Email Communication

The Office of Financial Aid Services will email students a series of updates regarding the federal loan changes implemented as of July 1, 2026. The email will advise students on the impact to their federal loans for those students that have enrolled below 12 credit hours for undergraduate studies or nine credit hours for graduate/doctoral studies. We ask the KU community to encourage students who may have academic challenges to contact our office before making any changes to their schedule for the semester. Professor Emeritus Parson Exhibits Art Video in Malmö Sweden

From Sept. 8-12, the European Conference on Computer Vision's Art Gallery will exhibit works by 52 artists, including Dr. Dale Parson, retired from the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT), in Malmö, Sweden and online. Parson's video, "Dimensions Alpha in 3 Movements," inspired by stages of image processing in the human visual system, will also be running without sound on the Rohrbach Library monitor outside the coffee shop during the fall semester. This video builds on technology used by Parson and his students in the CSIT department's multimedia programming courses. The linked online exhibit will remain open after the conference.

Kim Cowell Joins Rohrbach Library

Please join us in welcoming Kim Cowell to Rohrbach Library. She joins us as our new Information Desk Management Technician and starts Tuesday, Sept. 8. Join the APSCUF Rally for Affordable College on Sept. 28

Stand up for our students. APSCUF members are standing together to advocate for a 15% increase in funding for public higher education in Pennsylvania, for the Pennsylvania Promise plan to make college more affordable, and for other higher education and labor issues. Join us in Harrisburg for a rally on the Capitol steps at noon Monday, Sept. 28. APSCUF will provide a bus from campus to the rally and back. Students are welcome. Learn more and RSVP online.

Free Walk-in Math Tutoring

The Department of Mathematics offers free walk-in peer tutoring for students in mathematics classes from MATH 017 through and including the Calculus sequence. Please encourage your students to take advantage of this valuable resource. Tutors are available Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2-5 p.m. in 207 Lytle.

Ed.D. Summer Residency Program

Kutztown University's Ed.D. in Transformational Teaching and Learning welcomed scholars from Cohort 8 and Cohort 9 for our second annual Summer Residency, a three-day program focused on building community, strengthening scholarship and supporting scholars throughout their doctoral journeys. Scholars connected with peers and LSC chairs, received individualized support from KU staff and heard from Year 3 scholars who shared their experiences and offered a glimpse into what lies ahead. Karen Wanamaker provided library and research support, while Dr. Carl Sheperis explored the use of artificial intelligence in doctoral scholarship. Drs. Brenda Muzeta and Andy Miness supported Cohort 8 with conceptual frameworks and research methodology, while Drs. Kathy Stanfa and Tabetha Bernstein introduced the SAEG protocol for collaborative learning and feedback. Jeff Werner provided training in the IRB process. Cohort 9 launched its first doctoral course with Bernstein and Kittie Pain stopped by to welcome our scholars. At its heart, the residency builds the relationships, scholarly community and support systems that sustain our scholars throughout their Ed.D. journey.
