Study Abroad Fair

The KU Study Abroad Fair is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 218 MSU. Please encourage your students to attend to learn more about their options. Students will have the opportunity to speak with KU-led program leaders, KU staff and external partners about a wide range of program offerings and the application process.

Special Interest House for Education Majors Grows

The College of Education's (COE) Ed House, a special interest housing community for education majors located in Deatrick Hall, has grown to 36 students this year, representing a 89.5% increase from last year. The community includes seven returning students who serve as executive board members, providing leadership, mentorship and support for first-year residents. They held their first meeting of the year this week and continue to serve as an important recruitment and retention initiative for the COE by creating a strong sense of belonging and connection among future educators. The program helps first-year students build relationships with peers, receive guidance from experienced students and become engaged members of the KU community, while returning students gain valuable leadership experience by fostering a welcoming and supportive environment. PASSHE Universities Pilot a New Program Connecting Majors to Careers

Students at three universities in Pennsylvania's State System will soon get a clearer answer to one of the most important questions students face in college - What job can I do with this major? - as part of a new effort to enhance career advising so students can see exactly where a major leads. The initiative, "Connecting Credentials to Careers," will be piloted at Kutztown, Shippensburg and PennWest universities, with the potential to scale to other universities in the State System. The pilot will break down the skills students learn in each program, then match those skills to specific jobs and wages, so students and advisors can see the concrete path from a major to a career.

Fall Fest on Main

Fall Fest on Main will be held 3-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. Enjoy a night out downtown with vendors, food trucks, live music, line dancing, a kid zone and more. Our very own Dr. Cavalier will be in the dunk tank at 4:30 p.m. We hope to see you there.

Severe Weather Notifications

KU Alert, the university's emergency alert system, advises the campus of life-threatening situations as well as weather-related closures and concerns. Severe weather includes, but is not limited to, tornadoes, hurricanes, flash floods, significant snow and/or ice storms. Moving forward, the university will not activate KU Alert for thunderstorm warnings. The campus community is encouraged to always put their safety first in severe weather. In addition to KU Alert, there are cell phone resources and notification systems available to advise you of inclement weather, as recommended by the National Weather Service.

Kim Cowell Joins Rohrbach Library

Please join us in welcoming Kim Cowell to Rohrbach Library. She joins us as our new Information Desk Management Technician and started Tuesday, Sept. 8.
