KU BEARS Present Research at Strong Museum in Rochester

KU BEARS summer research grant students recently travelled to the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, N.Y., to present their research on the importance of providing access to retro video game collections in university libraries and potential barriers to this access. Current KU library science students Nicole Gerstenberg and Jackson Mullen were joined by English major Hailey Duncan, Cinema, Television and Media Production alumni Gabu Gonzalez, Computer Science alumni Hannah Katein and English professor Sandra Leonard for this interdisciplinary scholarly presentation at the Save the Games Symposium.

Faculty and Staff Convocation and Celebration

Join us at the annual Faculty and Staff Convocation and Celebration Friday, Aug. 21. This special event will take place in Schaeffer Auditorium, with doors opening at 7:45 a.m. Enjoy a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. before the program begins at 9 a.m. Offices will close at 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, through the conclusion of the event, to allow the campus community to attend.

We are accepting program proposals for the 10th Annual Gender and Sexual Minorities Conference, Wednesday, Sept. 30 through Friday, Oct. 2, MSU. This year's theme is "The Personal IS Political." Use the Call For Proposals form to submit a program proposal. Visit the LGBTQ+ Resource Center website for information on past conferences.

Writing Center Information Sessions for Classes

If you would like to have the Writing Center come to one of your classes, give a Zoom presentation or have your class visit the Writing Center, please use this Information Session Form. These sessions can be about the KU Writing Center’s services, resources, any in-class writing information on the writing process, writing stress, citation styles, etc. The Writing Center is located in 100C Rohrbach Library. International Resources for Academic Advisors

The International Office staff has updated its resources for academic advisors. Faculty can now access "Study Abroad Basics for Academic Advisors" and "International Student Basics for Academic Advisors" on the faculty and staff resources webpage. Advisors now have the ability to refer students for study abroad advising directly through Starfish.

University Writing Center Fall 2026 Information

The Kutztown University Writing Center will open Monday, Aug. 24. Have your students reach out for help and to schedule a writing session concerning papers for any subject or discipline. Also, please share the following information on your D2L pages.
Making an appointment:
- Online sessions: Go to Kutztown University Writing Center Online and schedule an online session. See the Online Help Page for additional instructions and screenshots. Online hours are 2-6 p.m. Sundays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3-8 p.m. Wednesdays and noon to 4 p.m. Fridays.
- In-person sessions: Call 610-683-4733, email wrcenter@kutztown.edu or visit the center in 100C Rohrbach Library during open hours. In-person hours are 2-6 p.m. Sundays, 2-8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
