KU's School Certification Programs Earn State Recognition

Kutztown University is proud to announce that its school certification programs (teacher, counselor, librarian, social work) have received formal recognition from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) for their work on the assurance process in compliance with new competency standards, a rigorous, multi-year process confirming that KU’s programs meet updated state standards. KU has 27 certification areas housed across three colleges. The College of Education (COE) plays a central role in overseeing and supporting these certification programs, both within its own college and across the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) and the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA). This achievement reflects KU's commitment to collaboration and excellence in educator preparation and the COE's role as a service college supporting various aspects across the university. The Assurance submission required aligning curriculum with key competencies in cultural awareness, professional ethics and structured literacy, ensuring KU's programs remain approved and our graduates eligible for certification and licensure. Congratulations to the faculty and staff across the colleges whose dedication made this possible. Your work continues to position KU as a leader in preparing Pennsylvania's future educators.
