Lyrical Conversations

Moments Create Movements continued its celebration of Hip-Hop culture Wednesday, March 25, with “Lyrical Conversations,” a poetry workshop featuring Bronx Poet Laureate finalist and internationally recognized spoken word artist, Lyrical Faith. Hosted through a collaboration between KU Home of Hip-Hop, Pen 2 Paper Poetry Club, BSU, Sisters Mentorship Group and Catwalk Modeling Troupe, the event brought students, faculty, staff and community members together for an evening centered on creativity, storytelling and self-expression. Faith shared her journey as an artist, performed spoken word pieces and encouraged attendees to use their voices as tools for healing, empowerment and change. Students had the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue about poetry, identity and the role Hip-Hop culture plays in building confidence and community. Students participated in an open mic segment of their own work or work they wrote during the workshop segment. The workshop reflected the mission of Moments Create Movements by creating space for students to learn, connect and celebrate culture through the arts. Events like “Lyrical Conversations” continue to show how Hip-Hop can serve as a bridge between education, creativity and belonging while uplifting student voices across campus.
