Summer Break Grocery Gift Card Donations for Students
When classes end and most students head home for summer break, some remain on campus without a permanent place to call home. These students are often overlooked and too often face food insecurity, especially when campus dining options are limited or closed during the summer months. This year, approximately 14 students will be living on campus over the summer. With your help, we can ensure they feel seen, supported and nourished during this time. Here’s how you can make a meaningful difference:
- Donate grocery gift cards. Gift cards to Giant, which is within walking distance of campus, give students the flexibility to choose items that fit their dietary needs and can be prepared with the kitchen resources available to them. Donations in the range of $15–$25 are especially helpful.
- Donate dish soap or feminine hygiene products in various sizes. These essentials can be costly but are necessary, and many students living on campus year-round are on fixed incomes. Your donation of these items provides meaningful, everyday support.
- Spread the word. Share this effort with others who care about supporting our campus community.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps provide comfort, dignity and stability to students who need it most. Please consider supporting our students this summer. Your generosity can have an immediate and lasting impact. Donations can be delivered 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays to 109 Stratton. To arrange a pickup, contact Erica Stratton at 610-683-4328 or stratton@kutztown.edu.

Happy Pride Month
June is National Pride Month. Pride Month is observed worldwide to celebrate the diversity, resilience and contributions of LGBTQIA+ individuals while promoting inclusivity and understanding of different sexual orientations and gender identities. It is held in June to commemorate the Stonewall Riots of June 1969, when patrons of the Stonewall Inn in New York City resisted a police raid, sparking a pivotal movement for LGBTQ rights. Pride is more than a celebration; it is a promise of belonging. It says every identity matters, every story counts and every heart has the right to shine. As a university, we celebrate our staff, faculty and students who identify as part of our LGBTQIA+ community. Kutztown University and the LGBTQ+ Resource Center will be a part of the following celebrations this summer as we continue to celebrate Pride Month:
-Berks Pride Fest
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 19, Jim Dietrich Park
- Lehigh Valley Pride
1-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks
- Pride Night at the Reading Fightin' Phils
6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, FirstEnergy Stadium
We hope you will join us and visit our tables.
