Golden Ladle Winner Announced: COE is Stirring Up School Spirit One Bowl at a Time

The 2025 College of Education Fall Chili Cookoff was a sizzling success. Congratulations to Dr. Katie Monahan, winner of the coveted Golden Ladle, for her outstanding chili. Dr. Tracy Keyes earned second place and Dr. Jenny Cameron took third. Well done to all. Special thanks to our talented chili makers: Deb Sailsbery, Katie Ache, Jen Gehringer, Meg Norris, Cathy Taschner, SungEun Min, Tracy Driehaus, Roseanne Perkins and Mark Wolfmeyer. Students loved being part of the judging process, making this event a great way to connect outside the classroom and build community, especially with freshmen and sophomore students. One student shared that she had been looking forward to this ever since she heard about it on Accepted Students Day. Many thanks to all the volunteers, especially our staff, who helped with setup and clean up and made the event truly fantastic.

Weather

Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger

Temperatures and weather more typical of a month or two from now. A sign of things to come? Or a fluke? Either way, a cold day with mostly cloudy skies and windy conditions along with a few flurries or snow showers as atmospheric instability from the unusually cold weather could give us a few snowflakes. High temperature only around 42. Wind chills will make it feel more like the 30s or even the 20s much of the day.
