Live Music and Folklife Demonstrations Headline the Fun at Heemet Fescht 2025
Indulge your interest in regional folk culture at the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center’s Heemet Fescht 2025, a celebration of the harvest and Pennsylvania Dutch farm life, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, historic Sharadin Farmstead, 22 Luckenbill Road, Kutztown. Heemet (pronounced HAY-met) means “home” in Pennsylvania Dutch. Heemet Fescht features live music in the barnyard, traditional crafts, folklife demonstrations, hearth-cooking, farm animals, children’s activities and more. The event is free, fun and educational for the whole family.

KUSSI Kick for Tuition
Congratulations to KUSSI's Kick for Tuition winner David Van Brunt! David made a 25-yard field goal during halftime at Saturday’s Family Day football game, winning one semester of in-state tuition for his son, Evan Van Brunt, who is currently majoring in History with a minor in Geology.

CEL AI Workshop
The Center for Engaged Learning (CEL) will host Writing AI Assignments 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 6 Rohrbach. As AI becomes more common, how can we keep our assignments fresh and relevant? In this session, we'll explore practical ways to pivot and adapt assignments so they remain meaningful. Together, we'll dig into concrete pedagogical techniques, weigh the strengths and weaknesses of AI and develop strategies you can use right away. CEL’s events are designed for you to gather with your colleagues, learn together and leave with a specific outcome to meet your teaching/professional needs.

CEL Advisory Council
Join the Center for Engaged Learning (CEL) Advisory Council. Full-time, part-time, tenure track, adjunct and non-instructional faculty of all ranks are welcome. The CEL Advisory Council provides advice to the CEL on emerging issues and supports CEL programs and events. We will meet asynchronously through both a CEL Advisory Council email listserv and synchronously during finals week. All Council members will receive a certificate of service. For more information about the advisory council, please view this document. If you would like to be considered for the Advisory Council, please fill out this form by Wednesday, Oct. 1. You can also choose to serve starting in the spring semester of 2026.

Kutztown University has a quintet of former student-athletes on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's 75 Greatest Male Athletes, as part of the league's 75th anniversary season in 2025-26. Representing KU is Ed Flory (Men's Swimming, 1974-78), Ziad Haddad (Wrestling, 2012-15), John Mobley (Football, 1991-95), Andre Reed (Football, 1981-84) and Ryan Vogelsong (Baseball, 1996-98).
