Kutztown University SBDC Visits Penn State Learning Factory

The Kutztown University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) team visited the Learning Factory at Penn State University Park with the Penn State SBDC team to explore experiential learning, maker spaces and innovation resources that support entrepreneurs across Pennsylvania. Kutztown SBDC representatives included Jacqueline Escobar, director, Lorena Bravo, bilingual business consultant, Rachael Wolfe, business consulting program manager, and Sarah Mailloux, Pennsylvania SBDC state director. The visit provided insight into how hands-on learning environments can help students, startups and small-business owners test ideas, develop prototypes and connect technical skills with real-world business needs. This experience supports the KU SBDC's ongoing commitment to improving resources for entrepreneurs and small-business owners in Lancaster, Berks, Chester and Lebanon Counties. By learning from other Pennsylvania SBDC programs and university-based innovation models, the Kutztown SBDC continues to strengthen no-cost, confidential business consulting, startup support, product development resources and small-business innovation services across southeastern Pennsylvania.

Weather

Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger

We'll be between yesterday's warm front and later today's cold front with humid conditions along with cloudy skies which should eventually break into some sunshine later. Showers and thunderstorms will be around at any time, perhaps coming in two waves (morning and afternoon/evening), though not everyone sees storms. It'll also be unusually windy for June, even if it's not stormy, as the atmosphere will be amped between those two fronts. Very warm to low-key hot. High around 89.

Juneteenth Celebrations

Kutztown University joins our hands and hearts across the United States to celebrate Juneteenth Friday, June 19. A federal holiday since 2021 means the university is closed, but there are multiple ways to celebrate across Pennsylvania, including Allentown, Lancaster, Harrisburg and Philadelphia. Juneteenth, short for “June Nineteenth,” marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops' arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday.
