Professor Emeritus Parson Exhibits Art Video in Malmö Sweden

From Sept. 8-12, the European Conference on Computer Vision's Art Gallery will exhibit works by 52 artists, including Dr. Dale Parson, retired from the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT), in Malmö, Sweden and online. Parson's video, "Dimensions Alpha in 3 Movements," inspired by stages of image processing in the human visual system, will also be running without sound on the Rohrbach Library monitor outside the coffee shop during the fall semester. This video builds on technology used by Parson and his students in the CSIT department's multimedia programming courses. The linked online exhibit will remain open after the conference.

Fisher/Lau Duo

Join us for an award-winning night of contemporary percussion 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, Wells-Rapp Center for Mallet Percussion Research. The Fisher/Lau Duo performs during their residency at Kutztown and will present new music that incorporates atmospheric sounds, projection visuals and humorous sounds.

PASSHE Summit Proposals Due Sept. 10

Kutztown University is hosting the PASSHE Summit Wednesday, Oct. 28 and Thursday, Oct. 29. This is a great time to submit a proposal since there is no travel needed. Proposals can be submitted by Thursday, Sept. 10 using the WHOVA/Proposal Submission. Everyone is welcome to register to attend the Summit either in person or virtually. Registration is free for PASSHE students, staff and faculty. Non-PASSHE folks may attend for a nominal registration fee.

Speak at Ignite Kutztown

We are seeking speakers for Ignite Kutztown. What is Ignite? It’s a speaking event that follows a specific format (more on that below). This semester's Ignite is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 135 Rickenbach, so mark your calendar to attend and see what this is all about. The basic idea behind Ignite is- what’s the nerdy passion you want to share with other people? Make a five-minute speech about it, with 20 slides that advance automatically every 15 seconds. This can be anything you’re passionate about, from a hobby, a research subject, or a general interest. Thus far, we’ve had topics ranging from The Last of Us, to Apples, to Playing with Action Figures as an Adult, and many others. Here’s a great video on Why and How to Give an Ignite Talk. Calling All Offices: Host a Donation Box for Our Military Care Package Event

Our deployed military service members spend months away from their families, friends and the comforts of home. A simple care package filled with thoughtful items can provide encouragement, boost morale and remind them that their community is thinking of them. We are seeking campus offices interested in supporting this effort by hosting a donation collection box. We are collecting new, unopened, nonperishable snacks, card games, self-care and body care products, hair care items, stationery supplies and letters of encouragement to include in care packages for deployed soldiers. At the conclusion of the donation drive, all collected items will be assembled into care packages and sent to deployed service members. If your office is willing to serve as a collection site, we will provide a donation box along with a flyer listing suggested donation items. New Job Title and KUIC Information

Kutztown University Radio advisor Mike Regensburger's official title has been updated to Campus Radio and Digital Media Manager to be better reflective of the fact that his duties expand beyond the campus radio station. One such duty is managing the Kutztown University Information Channel (KUIC), which features zones that can promote campus events and announcements. There are more than 10 screens across campus broadcasting the channel, with more expecting to come online in the near future. Fall 2026 Attendance Verification

Attendance verification, required federally for awarding financial aid Policy ACA-090, is available until 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8. Faculty should indicate whether students have attended or never attended by utilizing one of two flags. Please be sure to verify attendance status for every student. Students who have just added a course, but a meeting has not yet occurred since that change, should be marked as attending.
